Adirondack History & its Museumsadirondack museum
The history of the Adirondacks has been shaped and influenced by many powerful forces. Logging, mining, farming, tourism and even medicine have all played a major role in the development of the region. In the early 1800's, towns like St. Regis, Paul Smiths and Old Forge sprang up taking advantage of the vast timber resources and iron ore deposits. In the central Adirondacks, pioneers cleared the large tracts of land for farming creating the first settlements. And beginning in the late nineteenth century, the Adirondacks became a popular destination for the rich and famous. Known as the "Gilded Age", this period is famous for the construction of huge rustic compounds called Great Camps. Lana Del Ray stands striking and platinum at her residence in the New Jersey trailer park, where she writes and resides under the name Lana Del Ray.
Singer extraordinare Del Ray has been called the 'unofficial sweetheart of rock and roll' by the finest of hipster musicologists. Her latest triumph is the soon to be released record Kill Kill.

The sound of the record defies genre, as Lana sings the narcotic blues in the David Kahne-designed world of electric flourishes and orchestral bangs. Both Del Ray and Kahne have cited Coney Island and America as the touchstones of the new record.

Lana Del Ray is now a regular performer and influence on the New York City scene, having opened for the likes of Moby, Mirah and The Blow. She distinguishes caffeine, G-d and David Lee Roth as the primary influences on her sound, and has named Nirvana, The Beach Boys and Elvis as the foremost of her great loves.

On the dark stage and on the latest EP, her voice rings eerily glamorous. Check out the new music from Lana Del Ray available now on iTunes. Visit her myspace page- click here
